The TCS-1000 is not a "sous vide" food cooker. It is inspired by affordable kitchen appliances, cooking thermostats and even a foot-spa, which were themselves inspired by costly laboratory tools for scientific thermoregulation, we have now come full circle. An affordable immersion circulator thermostat designed specifically for at-home film developing.
PTC Heating Elements Compatible With Photo Chemistry:
Unlike kitchen sous vide cookers, the TCS-1000 uses PTC ceramic heating elements instead of metal heating coils. These kitchen appliances can only be used in water bath setups, as the metal coils would scorch or curdle any chemistry they came in contact with and subsequently corrode. The PTC material in the TCS-1000 means it can be placed directly into most photographic chemistry without corroding or damaging the unit, allowing for fast and easy heating and circulation of your chemistry with or without a water bath setup.
More Accurate Thermostat for Film Processing Temperatures:
The TCS-1000 uses a highly accurate, user-adjustable thermostat that is accurate from 0°C to 95°C (+/-0.1°C), compared to cooking appliances which are only consistent at common sous vide cooking temperatures between 45°C and 99°C (most film processing occurs between 18°C - 40°C).
Display and Firmware for Processing Film:
The TCS-1000 features an adjustable two-stage timer for any common photographic process (C-41, E6, Df96 Monobath, traditional black & white, etc.) with a 30-second delay between stages for pouring chemicals in and out of your developing tank. The temperature display can be toggled between Fahrenheit and Celsius.
Motor and Impeller:
The TCS-1000 uses a high efficiency, low noise brushless motor with a life cycle of over 4,000 working hours, 20-30% longer than most kitchen appliances. Combined with a molded impeller, it has a max circulation capacity of up to 20L of solution.
