If you are unsure whether your Cs41 kit is still capable of processing film, especially if you have some important film to process, it’s always a good idea to perform a snip test.
Cut off a small snippet of light-struck film from the beginning of a roll of color negative film in daylight. Load it into your developing tank or place it into a mixing pitcher. Run the film snippet through the 2-bath process at the 102F processing temperature and wash. Inspect the processed film snippet. If the developer is active, the film should be opaque black.
You can save the snippet to compare to future tests to monitor the health of the chemistry. Retire the developer if the snippet comes out thinner instead of opaque. The blix is less critical to test, but if you notice your negatives don’t fully clear, you can retire it re-blix your film with fresh chemistry.
